The Style Playbook #1 — The Simpler, The Better
My approach to clean, timeless menswear — shared with you. One outfit, one upgrade, one method, every single week.

Welcome to the first edition of The Style Playbook
I created this space to help you build a wardrobe that actually works — one that feels sharp, effortless, and completely yours.
Each week, I’ll share what I’m wearing, what I’m buying, and how I think about style — so you can develop a clean and timeless look that fits your life, not just the algorithm.
Here’s what’s inside this week:

Compare two fits — one that works, one you’re unsure about.
Let’s get started.
1. 📚 The Style Playbook - Rule #01
Fit comes first
If there’s one rule I’d tattoo into every guy’s closet, it’s this one: nothing matters more than fit.
Not the brand.
Not the trend.
Not the price tag.
This was one of the first things I figured out when I started caring about how I dressed.
Back then I wore oversized tees, tight shirts, skinny jeans — things that didn’t really fit me or the style I wanted. I was just following whatever felt “cool” at the time.
What changed everything? I stopped thinking so much about colors or brands, and started asking better questions:
Do I actually like this?
Would I wear it next year?
If I saw someone else dressed like this — would I think it looks good?
That shift helped me build a style that felt like mine.
"It is not fashion, but fit, that should guide your wardrobe."
💭 How to apply Rule 01
Next time you try something on, don’t look at the brand or the label first — look at the mirror.
Ask yourself:
Do the shoulders, sleeves, and waist follow my shape without squeezing it?
Do I feel comfortable moving, sitting, and standing in it?
Does this piece make me look sharper — or does it hide me?
And here’s a simple principle most guys overlook: the 1/3 rule.
If your outfit divides your body into two equal halves (like a long tee over long pants), the proportions usually feel off. But when you create a 1/3 to 2/3 balance — for example, tucking in a shirt, wearing a cropped jacket, or choosing higher-waisted trousers — your silhouette instantly looks cleaner and more intentional.
You can see it here: in this outfit, the t-shirt covers the top 1/3, while the pleated trousers take up the lower 2/3 — the proportions feel balanced and sharp.

2. 🧵 Your Weekly Uniform
Relaxed, neutral, elevated.
This look is a masterclass in proportions and neutrals. The ribbed knit polo gives structure on top, while the wide pleated trousers balance it out with ease. It’s refined, comfortable, and effortlessly sharp — perfect for a late summer afternoon or an evening terrace drink.

[Fit Breakdown]
· Ribbed short-sleeve polo in cream
· Wide pleated trousers in taupe
· Woven slip-on shoes in beige
· Accessories: Slim leather-strap watch, layered necklace, subtle bracelet
Why it works:
The outfit follows the 1/3 rule — the polo covers the top third, while the trousers elongate the lower two-thirds. The tonal palette (cream, taupe, beige) keeps everything cohesive, while textures (ribbed knit, woven shoes) add subtle character. Nothing screams for attention — but together, it looks perfectly composed.
3. 🧩 Closet Upgrade
5 pieces I’m actually wearing right now
I’ve always believed in building a wardrobe that works hard for you — pieces that fit your lifestyle, elevate your style, and last more than a season. This week I wanted to share five items I’ve been reaching for constantly.
From a perfectly cut tee to the bracelet I wear almost daily, each of these pieces adds something essential to my summer rotation. Some are basics, some are statement-makers — but they all do the job without trying too hard.
Let’s break them down.
1. COS Slim Ribbed T-shirt
Link →
This is not your average white tee. The ribbed texture, close fit, and slightly raised collar give it a sharper, more styled feel. You can throw it under an overshirt or wear it solo — either way it adds structure. Bonus: it doesn’t lose its shape after a wash.
2. Octobre Editions – Charlie Flannel Shirt
Link →
Soft, versatile, and understated. This light grey flannel shirt is the definition of effortless layering — sharp enough to wear buttoned-up with tailored trousers, and relaxed enough to throw over a tee with denim. The muted tone makes it endlessly pairable, while the flannel texture adds quiet depth.
3. Cascalia – Caratello Steel Grey Watch
Link →
Understated elegance. This is the kind of watch that quietly elevates everything around it. The steel grey finish, minimalist dial, and vintage-inspired design make it a perfect fit for everyday use — simple, but never boring.
4. Naked Wolfe – Riviera Cowboy Snuff Leather
Link →
A bold reinterpretation of the classic loafer. Crafted in soft snuff suede with embroidered cowboy artwork, this pair balances statement design with timeless construction. The chunky sole and sleek silhouette make it modern, while the warm neutral tone keeps it versatile.
5. 33MM – Pleated Thierry Pants

These are the trousers that upgrade every outfit. The pleated front, high waist and flowy leg give them a vintage-meets-modern feel. They pair well with loafers, Uneeks, or even sneakers. This silhouette adds presence without being loud.
4. 🎞 Timeless Inspiration Board
Visual and cultural references that inspire how I dress.
This week’s mood is very much Italian summer—warm light, open shirts, calm energy. I’ve been rewatching The Talented Mr. Ripley, and I swear, it gets better every time. Doesn’t matter that it’s from ‘99—if you care about style, it’s one of those movies that just sticks with you.
🎥 Film: The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999)
Set on the Amalfi Coast in the 1950s, the story is about Tom Ripley, a guy who gets way too obsessed with the life of Dickie Greenleaf. What starts as a dreamy trip slowly turns dark—but the whole thing is wrapped in this beautiful, sun-drenched aesthetic that makes you want to pack linen shirts and disappear to the coast.
The clothes are everything: light layers, soft tailoring, and that effortless Mediterranean feel. It’s honestly one of the films that made me want to dress with more intention.
👤 Style Mood: Jude Law
Jude Law in this film is a reminder that you don’t need much—just good basics worn with ease. Off-screen too, his style is clean, natural, and consistent. Light trousers, knits, sandals, shirts unbuttoned just enough.
What I like is that he never looks like he’s trying to “make a look”. He just gets the balance right: simple clothes, worn the right way, with the right energy.
🎶 This week’s soundtrack
Three songs that match the mood—and set the tone for the week:
L’appuntamento – Ornella Vanoni - a classic can never be missing and this song in summer is incredible to take you to the seashore between mountains.
Friends – Don West - I listened to the artist recently and since then he has become essential in my car.
Flores – Latin Mafia - for Spanish music lovers, one of my favorite bands recently with a relaxed and fresh style.
5. 🎯 Weekly Mission: From Theory to Fit
Pick your three most-worn pieces this week — a T-shirt, a shirt, trousers, maybe a jacket… Try them on and ask yourself:
Do I feel sharp or sloppy in this?
Does the fit make my body look balanced or awkward?
Would I wear this on a day I want to feel my best?
Then take a photo of the one that fits best — and one that clearly doesn’t — and compare them side by side.
You’ll see what works. And from there, it only gets easier.
If you try this week’s mission, share your photos with me trough dm or tag me on Instagram (@nicobohigues). I’d love to see your fits and give some feedback.
That’s it for the first week!
One step closer to a wardrobe that actually feels like you.
Next Sunday, we’ll dive into the rule that will change how you build every outfit: letting one single piece lead.
Thanks for being here from the very beginning.
See you next Sunday.
